Mirrors

Mirrors add dimension to a wall, especially if the mirrors are located across from a window or another point of light. If one large mirror does not fit your space, try laying out a few smaller mirrors. This way you can lay the mirrors in any sort of design you’d like. Another perk about having mirrors in your home is that they match any color scheme. If you have a rustic themed house, you can find rustic mirrors with a refinished look, or if you have a contemporary themed home, you can find some simple and sleek mirrors.

Framed Maps

If traveling is your thing, framed maps will be a great addition to your home. You can either find maps from AAA, print world maps, or even draw maps to fill your space. Once you’ve acquired the maps, find frames that fit the theme of your home and hang them on your bare wall. The fun thing about maps is you can personalize the maps you hang up. If you enjoy traveling to National Parks, putting up maps of all the parks you’ve traveled to is a great conversation starter and a nice reminder of your love to travel every time you pass that wall.

Photo Collage

Another great way to personalize a space. This could be a fun project in an office or bonus room. Take all the photos you’d like to display and paste them onto the wall. If you are unsure if the colors will clash with the room’s color scheme, you can print all your photos in black and white. These photos will add dimension and personalization to a room especially when the wall is illuminated by the sun.

Quotes

Inspirational quotes are a great and simple way to fill up wall space. Whether it’s above a baby crib, or on the wall lining your stairs, quotes can entertain those looking at the wall and still leave some wall space free. A fun project to do with kids is to create quotes with colored tape to add color and creativity to a wall.

Geometric Wall

A simple shape over and over again will create a pattern on your wall. Paint your wall a certain color and then buy some plywood to create geometric shapes along the wall. For example, if you are decorating a kid’s room wall and you like the color purple, paint the wall purple, and then plywood boards white. This will not only add color to your room but dimension as well. When the light hits the wall, the boards will also produce shadows which will add another layer to your originally bare wall.

Book Pages

Are you a fan of literature? Then you could actually make a fan of literature out of book pages and decorate your bare walls. Take a trip to your local second hand book store and start ripping pages out of books. You can paste the actual pages on your wall, you can create 3D art such as fans and flowers, or you fold the pages into origami figures and attach the figures to your wall. This is a great way to highlight your love for literature as well as your artistic abilities.
