Clean ceiling fans

The blades of ceiling fans can be a trap for dust, allergens, and pet hair, so make sure you go through your home and thoroughly clean all the ceiling fans. This will help prevent dust and allergens from blowing around in the room. When preparing to clean the blades, lay down a tarp or drop cloth so dust doesn’t land on your bed, couch, carpets, or other pieces of furniture.

Power wash outdoors

Before you plan to set out your patio furniture for the spring and summer, give the patio and porch a good power washing so you are placing the furniture on a fresh surface. A combination of dirt, pet paws, and rain can dirty up your patio in the winter months.

Replace the filters

One of the most important tasks on the spring home maintenance checklist is replacing your filters. Most filters need to be replaced every three to six months, depending on the type of filter. Think about all the filers in your house: water filters, air vent filters, range hood, vacuum filters, and Keurig filters. Remembering to do change these filters at the same time will help you remember for the next time!

Service the AC

The last thing you want is to try to turn on the AC unit on the first 80-degree day, just to find out it’s not working properly. It’s best to have your AC unit serviced before you need to turn on your AC unit for the season. Having your unit serviced regularly every year can help prevent the unit from completely breaking down and having to endure the cost of buying a brand new unit, in the heart of hot season.
